Her relationship with her parents was over entirely as they fought all the time to try to change her. Amber finally accepted herself at the age of fifteen, but hate from others still influenced her self-hate. She turned to poetry to let all her emotions out. Words Never Spoken is poetry of depression, self-hate, feelings of longing for suicide, and trying to stand up for yourself.
